EDF agrees electric car plug-in deals

EDF yesterday announced separete agreements with Renault and PSA Peugeot Citroen to develop recharging infrastrcuture for plug-in hybrid and electric cars in France.

The news coincided with(関係がある) a pledge(約束) by French president to mobilize(駆集める) 546 euro(546 USD) of public money over four years for research and development of low-emission(排気) vehicles.

French energy group is already working with Toyota on plug-in cars in France and the UK.

RWE and Daimler last month launched a pilot to set up 500 recharging points in Berlin for a test fleet of more than 100 Bendz and Smart electric cars.

Automakers developing plug-in hybrid or electric cars are seeking government incentives for them as early models. Carmakers this week asked the EU for uero 40bn in low interest loans for new technology similar to USD25bn package recently approved in the US.
